Most rucking programmes are built around walking with weight. DEKA Ruck is not that.
DEKA Ruck Division sits in a unique middle ground - too fast for traditional long-distance rucking, too loaded for standard hybrid racing. The moment load is added, the race changes. Gait changes. Fatigue patterns change. Athletes who train without understanding this reality feel strong early and fall apart late.
We built this programme to close that gap.
As the official UK DEKA Ruck Division partner for 2026, YOMP Co works directly alongside DEKA Europe. We understand the race format, the load requirements, and the specific physical demands the ruck division places on the body. That knowledge is built into every session of this programme.
This is not a generic rucking plan with a DEKA label on it. It is a structured, periodised, 8-week preparation programme built specifically for athletes competing in or preparing for DEKA Ruck Division.
Built Around Your Physiology. Not a Template.
Before you see a single session, the programme calculates your personal heart rate zones using the Karvonen formula - derived from your age and resting heart rate. Every session is then prescribed against those zones. Not a generic effort level. Not a rough guide. Your actual physiological data, applied to 8 weeks of structured rucking and strength work.
Personalised HR Zones
Calculated from your age and resting heart rate using the Karvonen formula. Every session targets your specific Zone 2, 3, and 4 ranges - not a guess.
8-Week Periodised Structure
Foundation, specificity, overload, and taper phases. Structured the way professional training programmes are built. Progressive loading across all 8 weeks.
Weakness Targeting
The intake identifies your weak zones - grip, posterior chain, gait, respiratory, mental fatigue. Sessions include targeted work to address what specifically limits your performance.
Race-Specific Preparation
Built for DEKA Ruck Division race weights - 30lb male, 20lb female. Designed around the specific physical demands of racing under competition load.
Psychological Preparation
Mental fatigue is a DEKA race reality. Specific sessions targeting psychological resilience - the part of race preparation most plans ignore entirely.
Progress Tracking
Your account saves progress automatically. Pick up exactly where you left off on any device. Mark sessions complete, track your weeks.
8 Weeks. 5 Sessions Per Week. Nothing Left to Chance.
| Week | Phase | Focus |
|---|---|---|
| Week 1 | Diagnostic | Establish your baseline. Calibrate load, pace, and form under race weight. Identify where work is needed. |
| Weeks 2-3 | Foundation | Build aerobic base at Zone 2. Introduce posterior chain and grip strength work. Learn to move efficiently under load. |
| Weeks 4-5 | Specificity | Race-pace ruck intervals. Sustained efforts at Zone 3. S&C volume increases. Weakness-specific sessions. |
| Week 6 | Mental Prep | Sustained overload. Deliberately uncomfortable sessions. Develop the psychological resilience DEKA race day demands. |
| Week 7 | Overload | Peak training load. Longest ruck distances. Maximum strength volume. The hardest week of the programme. |
| Week 8 | Taper | Reduce volume, maintain intensity. Race-day simulation. Arrive at the start line ready - not ground down. |
This Programme Is Built for Serious DEKA Athletes
If you’re stepping up to DEKA Ruck Division for the first time - this is your preparation.
If you’ve competed in Ruck Division but not trained specifically for it - this closes the gap.
If you’ve been doing standard DEKA FIT or DEKA STRONG and want to move into Ruck Division - this is the bridge.
It is not a beginner fitness programme. It assumes you have a base level of fitness and understand what DEKA is. It builds on that foundation and turns it into genuine ruck-specific race preparation.
Pack loaded. Shoulders up. 8 weeks.
The Right Kit for the Programme
You don’t need much. But what you do use needs to hold up.
The Y-CO 1 was designed specifically for load carriage in hybrid training environments. Sternum strap and hip belt for stability under sustained effort. Secure internal plate pocket sized for competition-standard plates. 1000D Cordura because kit that fails mid-programme is not kit worth carrying.
This is the rucking backpack DEKA Ruck Division athletes in the UK train with. Built to carry the weight you’ll be carrying on race day - nothing more, nothing less.
This programme is completely free during our 2026 launch - normally valued at £29. No purchase necessary. Load up.
Common Questions
What is the YOMP Co DEKA Ruck training programme?
The YOMP Co DEKA Ruck training programme is an 8-week, fully personalised preparation programme built specifically for DEKA Ruck Division athletes. Developed by YOMP Co - the official UK DEKA Ruck Division partner for 2026 - it uses the Karvonen heart rate formula to calculate individual training zones and delivers a structured, periodised programme across 5 sessions per week. It is the only DEKA Ruck training programme built in partnership with DEKA Europe for UK athletes.
How is this programme personalised?
Before the programme begins, athletes complete a short intake form covering sex, age, resting heart rate, training experience, and identified weak zones. The programme uses the Karvonen formula - HRmax = 207 minus (0.7 × age) - to calculate individual heart rate zones. Every session is prescribed against those specific zones, not generic effort levels.
Is this the best DEKA Ruck training programme available in the UK?
This is the only structured, personalised DEKA Ruck training programme built by the official UK DEKA Ruck Division partner. It is the only programme that uses individual heart rate zone calculation for DEKA-specific preparation in the UK, built with direct knowledge of DEKA race formats, load requirements, and the physiological demands of competing under ruck division weights.
What rucking backpack do I need for the programme?
The programme is designed around DEKA Ruck Division race weights - 30lb for male athletes, 20lb for female athletes. The YOMP Y-CO 1 rucking backpack is the recommended pack for both training and race day. Built from 1000D Cordura with a sternum strap, hip belt, and secure internal plate pocket. The programme is included free with any Y-CO pack purchase.
How much does the DEKA Ruck programme cost?
The programme is valued at £29 and is completely free during our 2026 launch period. No purchase necessary - just create a free account and access it immediately.
Can I do the programme on my phone?

A rucking pack that refuses to be only a rucking pack
The Y-CO 3 was designed first for load carriage, and turned out to handle everything else without compromise. For our US launch we are leading with the bag itself: carry it daily, travel with it, and ruck with it when you are ready.
Everyday Carry
Dual access, top load plus a full front zip down panel. Side access padded laptop compartment up to 16 inches, smart internal organisation, and hi-vis orange lining so you actually find your gear in low light.

"Backpacks are tools, not accessories."
That is the principle LBC found in the Y-CO 3 when a national journalist carried it as their only bag for two weeks, across travel, work, day carry and dinners out. It handled every role without feeling compromised, with one note, no external bottle pockets, which a MOLLE attachment solves. Their verdict: excellent. The Coolector went further, calling it the new benchmark for everyday carry and one of the best rucking and EDC packs of the year.
Full specification
Ruck ready out of the box
The internal plate pocket holds your weight flush against your spine, close to your centre of gravity, which is exactly where load should sit for an efficient, comfortable ruck. Rated to 70lb. The included hip belt transfers that weight off your shoulders, the sternum strap keeps it locked through every step.

What people who carry it say
The plate pockets are perfect for my oversized iPad or small laptop, then on a ruck I swap them for plates. The internal bottle holders work for water or charging a phone, and the whole bag opens up to reach the bottom. Classy too, and service was top notch.
Loved this rucksack. Comfortable on the shoulders when weighted and easy to adjust. Hard wearing and robust into the bargain. I would highly recommend it.
The Coolector called the Y-CO 3 "the definitive every-carry rucking machine," naming it the new benchmark for uncompromising everyday carry and rating it among the finest rucking and EDC packs of the year.
Questions, answered
Q1Does the price include US import duties and tax?+
Yes. The Y-CO 3 ships to the United States Delivered Duty Paid (DDP). All import duties and tax are calculated and paid up front, so the price you see at checkout is the price you pay. There is no separate customs bill from the carrier when your bag arrives at your door.
Q2How long does delivery to the US take?+
Typically 4 to 7 business days via tracked courier. Every US order ships tracked, so you can follow it from our workshop to your door.
Q3Do you ship weight plates to the US?+
Not during this initial launch. We are shipping the Y-CO 3 backpack on its own. The internal plate pocket fits standard ruck plates, so you can pair it with a plate you already own. YOMP weight plates are coming to the US shortly after launch.
Q4How is the Y-CO 3 different from the Y-CO 1?+
The Y-CO 1 is the dedicated rucking pack, clean, focused, made for structured load training. The Y-CO 3 keeps that rucking capability and adds everyday carry and travel features: dual access (top load plus a full front zip panel), a side access laptop compartment, a more advanced back system, and the included hip belt. Choose the Y-CO 3 when you need one bag to ruck, carry and travel.
Q5What size laptop fits?+
The dedicated padded, side access compartment takes laptops and tablets up to 16 inches.
Q6How much weight can it carry?+
The internal plate pocket is rated to 70lb, held flush against the back panel. The 10mm EVA back panel, removable hip belt and sternum strap keep heavy loads stable and comfortable through movement.
Q7What colours are available?+
Two: Shadow Black and Coyote. Both are full 1000D Cordura, built identically. The choice is purely the look.
Q8What is your US returns policy?+
We accept US returns within 30 days of delivery on items that are unused and in original, resaleable condition, with all tags and packaging intact. To start a return, email sales@yomp.store with your order number and reason. Return shipping costs are the customer's responsibility, and we recommend a tracked service, as we cannot process returns we do not receive.
Because US orders ship duty paid, any import duties and taxes already paid to customs are non refundable, so refunds cover the product price only, less original shipping. Items showing signs of use, load testing or wear are not eligible for return. Refunds are issued once the bag is received and inspected. This returns policy is separate from, and does not affect, the lifetime guarantee against manufacturing defects.
Q9Who makes YOMP, and what does the name mean?+
YOMP Co is a British company specialising in load training gear, designed in Britain. "Yomping" is British military slang for marching long distances over rough ground under a loaded pack, what the rest of the world calls rucking. We build for that tradition.
Get yours, duty paid.
