Who is Red On? And Why their Backyard Ultra Tactical Division Is One to Watch
Not all performance systems are built the same.
Some are designed for general fitness.
Others are built for sport.
Red On sits in a different category entirely.
It’s a performance and coaching concept built around the idea of the Tactical Athlete - developing individuals who can perform under pressure, across environments, and over time.
What is Red On?
At its core, Red On is a high-performance coaching ecosystem focused on optimising human performance particularly for those operating in demanding environments.
Through:
■ Coaching
■ Testing
■ Education
■ Events
It brings structure to a style of training that prioritises:
□ Durability
□ Work capacity
□ Mental resilience
It’s not just about getting fitter it’s about becoming capable.
Red On was founded by Mike Chadwick, a former Paratrooper and Royal Army Physical Training Corps Instructor who also served as a Special Forces Support Group operator, whose work was recognised within the Army for advancing physical training standards and improving operational performance.
Introducing: The Red On Backyard Ultra
One of the clearest expressions of this philosophy is the Red On Backyard Ultra—a brutally simple, but incredibly demanding event format.
Built on the classic “last man standing” model:
Athletes complete a 4.2-mile loop every hour
Miss the start of the next round → you’re out
The event continues until only one remains
There’s no fixed finish line.
👉 Just endurance, consistency, and mental resilience.
The Tactical Division (10kg Load)
For 2026, Red On has introduced:
The Backyard Ultra Tactical Division
A progression of the format that adds 10kg of load into every lap.
What Makes It Different
Every loop is completed wearing a 10kg weighted vest specifically.
Fatigue accumulates faster
Recovery becomes harder
Movement efficiency becomes critical
👉 It’s no longer just about lasting, it’s about lasting under load
Why the Tactical Division Changes the Game
Adding load transforms the event entirely.
It becomes a test of:
■ Structural durability
■ Posture under fatigue
■ Long-term pacing strategy
■ Mental resilience over time
Every lap carries a cost and that cost compounds.
Where Yomp Co Fits In
As part of the 2026 event, Yomp Co are proud to be the official kit partners for the Tactical Division, supplying weighted training vests purpose-built for this format.
This isn’t just added weight it’s a performance variable.
Athletes need:
■ Load that remains stable over long durations
■ Equipment that doesn’t restrict breathing or movement
■ Comfort that holds up across repeated 4.2-mile efforts

The introduction of the Tactical Division feels like a natural evolution of what Red On represents.
At Yomp Co, we see strong alignment in:
■ How performance is defined
■ The importance of durability under load
■ Training that translates beyond the gym
We’re excited to support this event and hope to work closely with Red On on future events as the format continues to grow.
